...it started with a vision
- In 2013, a much younger and optimistic James embarked on a mission to "save the bees" by becoming a beekeeper. This endeavour soon blossomed into a small honey enterprise, offering beekeeping supplies, hive wear, and a variety of distinctive flavoured honey products. Everything was kept organic and natural in line with nature and the bees ecosystem, creating the most incredible honey along with extremely happy, healthy bees.

- By 2016, James' close friends in the tattoo industry approached him with a request to explore the potential of a natural product derived from manuka for its remarkable healing properties. After extensive testing, including on his own tattoos, James successfully unlocked the formula for an exceptional all-natural healing cream, giving rise to AfterArt.
- AfterArt officially launched as a business in 2017, crafting an all-natural tattoo cream aimed at enhancing skin healing and tattoo care. This initiative stemmed from collaborations with top-tier tattooists in New Zealand & Australia who recognised the need for such a product. At the forefront of setting industry benchmarks in skincare and tattoo recovery, AfterArt actively collaborates with artists and studio owners to foster positive growth within the industry while ensuring it remains firmly in the hands of artists and studios.
- In 2024, AfterArt proudly serves thousands of tattoo artists across New Zealand, Australia, Japan, America, and Canada. What began with a single all-natural aftercare cream has evolved into multiple product lines, covering pre, during, and post-tattoo care, along with artist-designed clothing.
- Today, AfterArt stands as the top-selling tattoo aftercare product in New Zealand, maintaining this position for several consecutive years. We actively support major tattoo events nationwide, internationally, engage in community outreach, and annually contribute to various charitable causes such as Starship Hospital, I AM HOPE Foundation, animal services, cancer awareness, and numerous other charitable endeavours.

When I'm not wearing my professional firefighter uniform, you'll find me being a proud father, husband, and fully immersed in the world of tattoos.
My belief? Natural is the way to go. I'm all about keeping it real with natural products. I'm big on sustainability, so I opt for environmentally friendly options whenever I can. Let's cut the fluff: no animal testing, no unnecessary ingredients. I like to keep things simple and effective, steering clear of any BS in both products and marketing.
